Higher crude prices and lower output behind ONGC's September quarter
ONGC explores for and produces crude oil and natural gas. Its realisation on crude from nominated fields was US$92.33 a barrel in the quarter, up about 37.1% from US$67.34 a year earlier. Realisation on gas from new wells was US$10.24 per MMBtu, up from US$8.36.
Output was lower. Standalone crude production was 4.437 million tonnes against 4.630 million tonnes a year earlier, and standalone gas production was 4.839 billion cubic metres against 4.918 billion cubic metres. ONGC attributed the decline to reservoir complexities at its KG-98/2 asset, monsoon-related operational issues and delays in pipeline replacement projects.
